ER MINISTER BOOSTS COLLABORATION WITH BLUE SKIES COMPANY LIMITED

The Eastern Regional Minister, Mrs. Rita Akosua Adjei Awatey, paid a working visit to Blue Skies Company Limited at Nsawam-Doboro on Thursday, 12th February 2026. The visit aimed to strengthen government–private sector collaboration and gain insight into the company’s operations, which play a significant role in job creation, agro-processing, and value addition in the region.

Mrs. Awatey commended Blue Skies for its remarkable contributions to national development in the areas of job creation and economic growth. She acknowledged the company’s role in providing a ready market for fruits produced by local farmers. She emphasized that strengthened partnerships with agro-processing firms are essential to boosting agribusiness, reducing post-harvest losses, and promoting local industrial growth, aligning with the government’s efforts to support sustainable economic development.
The company’s General Manager, Janet Lutterodt, took the Minister through the production processes, explaining how fresh fruits are sourced from local farmers and processed for both domestic and international markets. She highlighted Blue Skies’ “Added Value at Source” approach, which ensures fruits are processed in the countries where they are grown, supporting local economies and delivering fresh products.

However, Ms. Lutterodt noted that despite the company’s commitment to operations, they face challenges such as the need for stronger agricultural support, land encroachment, illegal sand winning, airfreight and logistics issues, energy concerns, regional trade access, and consultation in regulatory review. She appealed to the government to address these challenges, ensuring the continued growth and success of agro-processing companies like Blue Skies.
