ZONGO CHIEFS PLEDGE SUPPORT FOR GOVERNMENT

The Akyem Abuakwa Council of Zongo Chiefs has pledged its unflinching support to the government and expressed confidence in its ability to succeed in all its endeavors.

?The pledge was made on Thursday, 11th June 2026, when the Council, led by its President, Alhaji Sanusi Mohammed, paid a courtesy call on the Eastern Regional Minister, Mrs. Rita Akosua Adjei Awatey, at her office in Koforidua.

?The Chiefs commended the government for its performance so far and thanked it for the progress made in Zongo communities. They assured the Regional Minister of their continued loyalty and support to ensure the success of government policies and programmes.

?Mrs. Awatey, in response, said President John Dramani Mahama and his administration recognize the immense contribution and significant role played by Muslims in bringing the NDC into government. As a result, she noted that attention is being given to Zongo communities through the provision of social amenities and road infrastructure.

?She cited the commencement of the reconstruction of roads in the Koforidua Zongo community as an example of the government’s commitment to the area.
?
?The Regional Minister entreated the Chiefs to continue believing in the government’s ability to deliver on its promises. On Hajj, she assured them that the majority of Muslims would be given the opportunity as expected.

?Mrs. Awatey expressed appreciation for the visit and called for continued prayers from the Muslim community to support the government’s development agenda.
