NENE SAKITE LAUDS PRESIDENT MAHAMA’S ECONOMIC MANAGEMENT

The Konor of the Manya Krobo Traditional Area, Nene Sakite II, has commended the President Mahama-led administration for its efforts in stabilizing the economy. He said the economy is doing relatively well citing notable achievements in curbing inflation, maintaining stability against the dollar, and ensuring the economy is well-managed which has brought some relief to businesses and citizens alike.

Nene Sakite who is also the President of the Eastern Regional House of Chiefs made the commendation at the 132nd Ngmayem Festival, at Odumase Krobo in the Eastern Region. He urged the President to continue on this path, emphasizing that such efforts would undoubtedly win the hearts of many Ghanaians.

The Konor also highlighted the importance of collaboration between government and traditional authorities in governance and national development. He stressed that collective efforts would be crucial in driving progress and addressing the needs of the people.

However, Nene Sakite did not shy away from talking about some pressing challenges facing his area. Notably, he drew attention to the deplorable state of the Somanya-Kpong road and town roads, which have deteriorated significantly over time. The Konor’s pleaded to the government to prioritize the rehabilitation of these critical infrastructure projects that would facilitate economic growth and improve the lives of the people.

Speaking on the theme “Celebrating Our Heritage; Building Our Communities with a Purpose”, the Eastern Regional Minister, Mrs. Rita Akosua Adjei Awatey, reaffirmed the government’s commitment to working with traditional leaders to build resilient and progressive communities

According to her, harnessing the strong sense of discipline is key to improving the lives of every individual in the area. She emphasized the importance of maintaining peace, stability, and mutual respect among all people in achieving the goals outlined in the theme.

Mrs. Awatey also provided updates on ongoing infrastructure projects, including the Somanya-Kpong road, which is set to be fixed under the “Big Push” agenda. She assured the people that the government is committed to ensuring the prosperity of their communities.
The Minister called on the people to support local growth and self-help initiatives, prioritizing education, healthcare, and economic growth.

In a speech read for her, a Deputy Chief of Staff, Nana Oye Bampoe Addo said significant investments are underway in the Eastern Region to strengthen agriculture, infrastructure, education and health all aimed at improving livelihoods and empowering local economies. She entreated the youth to take advantage of these policies and interventions to better their lives.
