The Eastern Regional Minister, Mrs. Rita Akosua Adjei Awatey, has expressed her profound appreciation for the significant role the Anglican Church plays in governance and national development.
She commended the church’s unwavering support and collaboration in crucial sectors such as education, health, agriculture, and social interactions.
She was speaking at the Centenary Anniversary Celebration and thanksgiving service of the St. Peter Anglican Cathedral in Koforidua,
The minister emphasized that the government’s efforts alone are insufficient to drive development and that partnerships with organizations like the Anglican Church are vital to achieving success. “The government cannot do everything by itself, but with collaborations like this, we can strive to make a meaningful impact,” she stated.
Mrs. Awatey took the opportunity to extend her gratitude to the clergy and the church for their intercessory prayers for peace and stability before, during, and after the 2024 general elections.
She assured the congregation that the President Mahama-led administration is committed to implementing good policies, programs, and activities that benefit the country.
Highlighting the government’s commitment to development, Mrs. Awatey revealed that abandoned projects would be revisited and completed. In the New Juaben South municipality, for instance, the government is actively reshaping roads, constructing new school blocks, drilling boreholes for communities, and implementing other vital projects.
