The Eastern Regional Minister, Mrs. Rita Akosua Adjei Awatey, Muslim worshippers at the Koforidua Central Mosque to celebrate this year’s Eid al-Adha on 27th May 2026, where she called for peace, unity, and compassion while assuring residents of government’s commitment to the reconstruction of the Koforidua Zongo Roads.

?The celebration brought together hundreds of Muslims from across the New Juaben South Municipality who gathered in prayer and thanksgiving to mark the sacred Islamic festival, which commemorates the obedience and devotion of Prophet Abraham to Allah.
?
?Addressing the congregation, Mrs. Awatey noted that Eid al-Adha serves as a reminder of complete obedience and submission to the will of Allah, recalling the story of Prophet Abraham, who was prepared to sacrifice his son, Ishmael, in fulfillment of God’s command.

?According to her, Allah in His mercy provided a ram instead, teaching humanity that true faith lies in surrendering to the will of God.
?
?“This sacred act inspires us to live with humility, generosity, and faith,” she stated. “It is also a time of unity, calling on Ghanaians to share with the less privileged, strengthen community bonds, and promote peace within their society.”

?The Minister commended the Muslim community for its immense contributions to education, commerce, and social cohesion, adding that the values of discipline, charity, and devotion demonstrated by Muslims continue to strengthen the nation.

?She further assured them of government’s commitment to supporting all faith-based groups and promoting inclusive development across the region.
?
?Mrs. Awatey also announced that reconstruction works on the long-awaited Zongo Roads are scheduled to commence soon, a move expected to bring relief to residents, traders, and commuters within the area.
?
?She explained that the project would improve transportation, ease movement, and accelerate development within the Zongo community and adjoining areas.
?“As you perform the sacrifice today, may Allah accept your devotion and bless their families with peace and prosperity,” she told the worshippers.
