The Eastern Regional Minister, Mrs. Rita Akosua Adjei Awatey, on Saturday, April 18th, 2026, launched the Eastern Flowers Initiative, a regional effort aimed at transforming the outlook of communities and improving environmental cleanliness across the Eastern Region.
The initiative, launched in Koforidua, focuses on flower planting, landscaping, street painting, murals, and general environmental sanitation to enhance the visual appeal of public spaces.
Mrs. Awatey indicated that the initiative goes beyond beautification, stressing that it is a long-term intervention designed to promote a cleaner, greener, and more organized environment across the region.
She noted that the exercise has commenced in Koforidua and will be extended to all municipalities and districts, with Metropolitan, Municipal and District Chief Executives expected to lead its implementation.
The Minister urged residents to actively support the initiative by maintaining clean surroundings and contributing to environmental improvement efforts within their communities.
She further encouraged individuals to take personal responsibility by properly disposing of waste and participating in activities that promote cleanliness and order in public spaces.
Mrs. Awatey expressed appreciation to stakeholders, traditional authorities and residents who participated in the launch, reaffirming her commitment to improving public spaces and environmental conditions across the region.
