HER EXCELLENCY SAMIRA BAWUMIA EMPOWERMENT AND HUMANITARIAN PROJECT DONATES TO FIVE (5) BASIC SCHOOLS IN EASTERN REGION.

Five basic schools in the New Juaben North and New Juaben South Municipalities in the Eastern Region have benefited from Samira Empowerment and Humanitarian Project ( SEHP); Library-in a-box Project under the Office of the Wife of the Vice President, H. E. Samira Bawumia.


The objective of the Library-in-Box Project was to improve literacy, and critical thinking and promote the culture of reading among children.
The beneficiary schools included Oyoko Methodist Basic, Effiduase Presby Basic, Trinity Presby Royal Basic, Apempoa Islamic Basic, and the Police Basic Schools.

Presenting the books to the schools, Her Excellency Samira Bawumia highlighted the importance of education to the socioeconomic development of the country, stressing that education is an empowering right and a powerful tool that economically and socially marginalized individuals could utilize to lift themselves out of poverty and improve their socio-economic well being.

She was of the firm belief that education was the bedrock upon which every nation’s growth and development is secured, and expressed the hope that the project which seeks to provide books to schools with an under-stocked library or no library would contribute to the realisation of these objectives.
The Member of Parliament for New Juaben South and the Deputy Minister of Trade and Industry, Hon. Okyere Baafi expressed his gratitude to SEHP for the kind gesture.
The New Juaben South Municipal Director of Education Alhaji Mustapha Haruna Appiah thanked Mrs. Bawumia for her unflinching support towards education and was hopeful that her support would enhance teaching and learning in the two municipalities.
He gave an assurance that adequate supervision would be put in place to ensure that the books benefit both current pupils and the children who are yet to start the educational ladder.
Prior to the donation, Mrs. Bawumia paid a courtesy call to the Paramount Chief of New Juaben Traditional Area, Daasebre Kwaku Boateng III.

Mrs. Bawumia was received by the Honourable Eastern Regional Minister, Mr. Seth Kwame Acheampong. Other dignitaries present were Mr. John Donkor, Ag. Regional Coordinating Director, the Municipal Chief Executives of New Juaben North and South, Regional NPP Executives led by Mr. Osei Agyei, the Regional Secretary.
