The Eastern Regional House of Chiefs has held its end of the year meeting at the conference hall of the house in Koforidua, the Regional capital.

Addressing the house, the Honourable Eastern

Regional Minister, Hon. Eric Kwakye Darfour thanked Nananom in the Region for the enormous support and cooperation he and the Regional Coordinating council have enjoyed over the past four years.

He thanked them for the good counsel, wisdom, and cordiality the house has offered him since

his assumption into office in 2017.

Highlighting the importance of nananom in the governance system, Hon. Darfour acknowledged that Nananom contributes enormously in the area of social, political, religious, and economic sectors of the country’s economy.

He, therefore, appealed to Chiefs to used their revered office to continue to encourage their people especially the youth to pursue peace before, during, and after the General Elections.

The President of the House, His Royal Majesty Nene Sakitey II, Konor of ManyaKrobo pledged to continue to work hard to address the challenges facing Chieftaincy Institutions in the Region and in the country and called Nananom to continue to support him as their newly elected President of the House.

He gave the assurance that he would run an open office that accepts constructive criticism and wise counsel from everybody.

He, therefore, called on the media to be circumspect in their reportage, devoid of deceptive headlines which often time damage the revered image of Nananom and bring the reputations of the Chieftiency institutions into disrepute.

The Vice President of the House, Daasebre Akuamoah Agyapong II, Kwahuhene appealed to the Chiefs to resolve all their grievances and misunderstandings in the house rather than resorting to the media.

The house also appealed to the government, through the Regional Minister to review some sections of the constitution and the Chieftaincy Act which seems to take some power from them.
