Scores of mourners and sympathizers have on 13th December, 2025 converged at the Koforidua Jackson Park for the final funeral rites of the late Defense Minister, Dr. Edward Omane Boamah.

In attendance were the First Lady, Mrs Lordina Mahama, the Chief of Staff, Julius Debrah,, Ministers of State, Members of Parliament, leadership of the National Democratic Congress, officials of some opposition political parties, and traditional and religious leaders,
It would be recalled that on 6th August, 2025, Dr. Omane Boamah, 49, and seven others were killed in a tragic helicopter crash at the Dampia Range Forest near Adansi Akrofuom in the Ashanti Region.

The other occupants of the Air Force Harbin Z-9 helicopter were identified as Dr. Ibrahim Murtala Mohammed, Member of Parliament for Tamale Central and Minister for Environment and Science, Alhaji Limuna Muniru Mohammed, Acting Deputy National Security Coordinator, Dr. Samuel Sarpong, National Vice Chairman of the ruling NDC, Samuel Aboagye, Former NDC Parliamentary Candidate for Obuasi East, Squadron Leader, Peter Bafemi Anala, Flight Officer Manaen Twum Ampadu and Sergeant Ernest Addo Mensah,
The ceremony, which was well-attended and proceeding smoothly ongoing, was unfortunately cut short due to an intense torrential rainfall that made attendees to scramble to seek shelter from the storm.
