The students of the Ghana Armed Command and Staff College (Junior Division) visited the Eastern Regional Minister, Hon. Seth Kwame Acheampong, Heads of Decentralized/ Unit and Representatives of the Environmental Protection Agency on Monday, March 18th 2024, to brief them on the topical areas of their research study in the Region. The study focused on Chieftaincy disputes, illegal mining and tourism.
The entry meeting was held at the ERCC Conference Hall where they met with staff of the Regional Co-ordinating Council and the Heads of Departments.
They were given a presentation on the Region’s profile by the Regional Planning Unit and briefed on Tourism and Illegal mining. The Regional Study Tour took place at some districts and municipals which included, Atiwa East, Birim North and Kwahu South. The team consisted of officers from the Ghana Armed Forces, Nigeria, Gambia and Botswana.
Mr. John A. Donkor who is the Chief Director of the Eastern Regional Co-ordinating Council welcomed the team on behalf of the Hon. Regional Minister and emphasized that Eastern Region is blessed with a lot of natural resources, hence choosing it for the research on Socio-Economic developments cannot be over-emphasized.
The Head of Delegation, Colonel Dominic Buah said they learnt about the roles Traditional Authorities played in the Local Governance. He disclosed that the nature of the research was very significant as it provided an all-inclusive growth, Partnership and capacity building for Military Officers and the nation as a whole.
