The Eastern Regional Co-ordinating Council on Thursday, 12th August, 2024 held an Inter-Service and Inter-Sectorial meeting in accordance to Section 198 of the Local Governance Act, 936, 2016.
The primary objective of the meeting was to intensify the collaboration and monitoring responsibilities of the Regional Co-ordinating Council with the other Sectors of the public Service.
In his opening remarks, the Ag. Chief Director, Mr. John Ankrah welcomed the House and stated the need for all heads of the Public Sectors in the Region to meet frequently deliberate on issues confronting them and seek the improvement of the service delivery of the Sectors involved.
He seized the opportunity to congratulate the heads of Institutions for their performance so far and further encouraged them to work hard for the growth of the Region.
Mr. Peter Ntim Ofori, the Eastern Regional National Identification Authority Officer provided a comprehensive update on the Department, highlighting that, new registration with instant card issuing out cost Three hundred and Ten Ghana Cedis (GH?310.00), replacement of lost, damaged and misplaced cards also cost Four hundred and twenty Ghana Cedis (GH?420.00), while updating of personal records: change of name, correction of minor errors, picture update, date of birth change, additional name etc. also cost Three hundred and fifty-five Ghana Cedis (GH?355.00). He mentioned that, all payments are done at CALBANK or by mobile money short code ? 771# on all networks.
Mr. Evans Ebo Sarpong, an Engineer at the Electricity Company of Ghana, Eastern Regional Office, urged the house to be vigilant of fake meters being supplied by some individuals. He added that, these meters are harmful to human health.
The Regional Director for the Ministry of Trade and Industry,
Ms. Sarah Boadi informed the meeting about their main agenda which included One District One Factory, Business Regulatory Reforms, Export Development Program, Domestic Retail Infrastructure, and others which according to her, were on course.
Mr. Augustine Bosrotsi, the Deputy Regional Director, National Commission for Civic Education (N.C.C.E) informed the meeting that, the Commission had visited Churches, Mosques, Schools, Opinion Leaders and Information Centers to sensitise and educate the populace on the need for peace before, during and after the December 2024 Polls.
The Institutions that attended the meeting included, the Department of Agriculture, Ghana National Fire Service, Ghana Police Service, Ghana Education Service, Electricity Company of Ghana (E.C.G), National Health Insurance Authority (N.H.I.A), National Identification Authority (N.I A), National Commission for Civic Education (N.C.C.E), Ghana Water Company Limited and other Government agencies in the Region.
