The Eastern Regional Minister Mrs Rita Akosua Adjei Awatey today Monday 31st March, 2025 joined hundreds of Muslims at the Koforidua Central Mosque for special congregational prayers to mark the end of the holy month of Ramadan.
Mrs Awatey assured the people that the government of President Mahama remains committed to the welfare of all citizens, including the Muslim communities. The government recognizes the invaluable contributions of the Muslim populations to the sociocultural and economic life of the region and the country as a whole. It is against this background that the NDC government is fully dedicated to ensuring that Muslims continue to have the freedom to practice your faith without any hindrance just as other religious groups are enjoying, and more importantly your needs are also provided in every respect.
The Regional Chief Imam, Alhaji Yusif Suleman Amudani who led the prayers expressed his gratitude to Allah for guiding Muslims through the sacred period of Ramadan as the holy month ended, the Chief Imam seized the opportunity to appeal to Ghanaians to rise above partisan politics.
He said the political season has ended, and it is time for the nation to rally behind the government in power.
In recognition of the sacred month of Ramadan and its values of faith, sacrifice, and generosity, the Eastern Regional Minister, Mrs. Rita Akosua Adjei Awatey, extended a gesture of goodwill by donating essential food items to Muslim communities in the region.
The donation, which included rice,canned fish, and oil, was made during Ramadan and also as a support toward the Eid al-Fits celebration, marking the end of the sacred month with joy and thanksgiving.
Ramadan is a time of spiritual reflection, self-discipline, and acts of kindness, reinforcing the importance of community and shared responsibility. By extending this support, the Minister highlighted the significant role the Muslim community plays in fostering peace, unity, and development within the region. She also assured them of her continued engagement and support beyond the Ramadan season.
As Muslims mark Eid al-Fitr, a day of gratitude, renewal, and celebration, the Minister extends her heartfelt wishes to all. She encourages the continued practice of the values that Ramadan teaches, including generosity, compassion, and togetherness, so that the spirit of unity remains beyond this special day.
