The Eastern Regional Minister Hon. Seth Kwame Acheampong has commended Management of All Nation University for their efforts and the feats they have achieved with respect to science and engineering. He was particularly awed by their successful launch of a satellite to space, referring to it as “a phenomenon of our time.”
Hon. Acheampong made this statement when he paid a working visit to the University at their main campus in Koforidua, as part of his plan to familiarize himself with key institutions in the Eastern Region.
He remarked that the government as a facilitator of public private partnerships would grant the necessary assistance to entrepreneurs in an effort to help them excel so they can contribute their quota to the betterment of the country.
Hon. Acheampong encouraged them to pursue the drive and congratulated them on their achievements.
Dr. Kwame Oware, Head of Engineering and member of the school management speaking on behalf of the school thanked the Minister for recognising the school as a key stakeholder and taking time from his busy schedule to pay a visit.
He indicated that the university would continue to offer excellent professional and academic training to both Ghanaian students and students from any part of the world, giving the assurance that the school was ready to partner with government to solve some of the challenges confronting the country through introduction of new programs.
The Minister and his entourage were then led on a tour of the University’s premises. He visited the Space System Technology Laboratory which was responsible for launching Ghana’s first satellite into space. At that lab, he witnessed Virtual Reality Technology that simulates real life surgical instances as a means to enable trainee surgeons have the necessary practical experience without the need of an actual human body.
This same Virtual Reality Technology was also applied to industrial practical activities for engineering students by mimicking the industrial environment of real life companies, thereby giving students a chance to visit these industries without actually having to travel there.
Also worthy of note was a system designed for the Ghana Water Company that could detect and report leakages as well as show the specific pipe which was leaking.
Hon. Acheampong was then showed some innovative projects by students. These included a motion sensor equipped dustbin aimed to reduce spread of covid-19 by minimising contact with the dustbins surface and a rice cooker that can be given commands via radio signals.
From the Space System Technology Laboratory, The Hon. Minister was led to the University’s Water Factory which was branded as Belle Water and produces both bottled and sachet water. He was further led to a Process Control Lab where he was shown several equipment with respect to oil and gas.
He then proceeded to the University Library and finally the Ground Control Station, where satellites in orbit were monitored, tracked and commanded and also where data from the satellites were received, thus making it impossible to launch a satellite without one.
