The Police Administration has established a new unit known as the 24 Hour Economy Security Secretariat to oversee the security coordination of the implementation of the 24 Hour Economy. The Police Administration has taken cognizance of the government’s avowed aim of implementing this flagship program; hence the establishment of the new unit.
The Director General in charge of the National Patrol Department of the Ghana Police Service, COP Mohammed Fuseni Suraji, announced this at the passing out ceremony of 233 graduate and general police recruits in Koforidua on Friday, 4th July 2025.

During their six months of training, the recruits were taught Police Science, Law Studies and Social Science, Public Order Management, Driving, Swimming, Incident and Disaster Management, among others.
COP Suraji, who was also the Reviewing Officer for the program, urged the recruits to exhibit a high level of competence that complements the confidence citizens repose in them. He said that to live up to public trust and expectations, they must enforce the law fairly and with utmost respect for citizens and their human rights.
COP Suraji entreated police officers to desist from engaging in any activity or action that could bring the name of the Service into disrepute.
According to him, the changing phase of security in Ghana, characterized by emerging complex and cyber related crimes, violent crimes, communal conflicts and changes in modus operandi, among others, continues to place a huge demand on personnel of the Ghana Police Service to deliver services that are more diverse, complex, skilled and specialized to deal with the menace.
It is against this background that COP Suraji urged Ghanaians to support the Service in giving its best to the nation. He added that citizens should also demand accountability, show respect, cooperate with the police, and volunteer information in their collective quest to eradicate crime.
Awards were given to some deserving recruits. Samuel Nii Lantey Addy was adjudged Best in Academics; Best in Drill went to Benison Dzramedo; and Best Marksman went to Ransford Boniface Adjei. The rest include Sadiq Clottey for Best Conduct, Gilbert Boakye Danquah for Overall Best Under Cadet, while the Overall National Best and Best General Recruit went to Evans Kwesi Gyarteng.
