PENSEC CELEBRATES 25YEARS OF NURTURING EXCELLENCE AND VIRTUE

The Eastern Regional Minister, Mrs. Rita Akosua Adjei Awatey, has praised religious bodies in Ghana for their pivotal role in collaborating with the government in nation-building.
Speaking at the 25th Anniversary Speech and Prize Giving Day of the Pentecost Senior High School (PENSEC) in Koforidua, the Minister commended the Church of Pentecost for its outstanding contributions to the country’s development.

The Church of Pentecost, through institutions like PENSEC, has been instrumental in providing quality education marked by high academic standards and discipline, making mission schools highly attractive to parents seeking placements for their children.

Mrs. Awatey urged managers of such schools to maintain the status quo or even improve it, emphasizing the importance of continued excellence in education. She also admonished parents and guardians to be very responsible towards the upkeep of their children in schools, believing this would serve as a motivation for improved learning outcomes.

The celebration was held under the theme “Nurturing Future Leaders of Excellence and Virtue: The PENSEC Story”, aptly capturing the essence of Pentecost Senior High School’s 25-year journey.

The Minister urged the students to fully commit to their studies and personal growth, drawing inspiration from the example set by their predecessors. She also commended the staff and administration of the school for their hard work and implored them to uphold the excellent standards that make the school stand out.

The Director-General of the Ghana Education Service, Professor Ernest Kofi Davis, in a speech read on his behalf by the Eastern Regional Director of Education, Dr. Mrs. Ivy Asantewa Owusu, said excellence and virtue are not accidental by-products but spring from intentional policies, disciplined practice, and a culture that expects the best from every member of the community.
According to him, excellence at the school means rigorous academics, competitive sports, creative arts, and technological competence.

Professor Davis acknowledged with deep gratitude the founders and visionaries whose faith and sacrifice birthed the institution. He thanked the alumni for upholding the school’s name in their professions and communities.
He said their continuous involvement in mentorship, funding, and counsel will be vital as they move forward.

The Headmaster of the Pentecost Senior High School, Peter Atta Gyamfi, said over the years, the school has stood as a symbol of moral rectitude, diligence, and discipline, producing graduates who contribute significantly to the community and beyond.
He said PENSEC has become a center of leadership and a beacon of hope in the Eastern Region, a testament to the dedication of its staff and the commitment of its students.
