President John Dramani Mahama officially opened the second edition of the Kwahu Business Forum on Saturday, April 19, 2025, at the Mpraeso Social Centre in the Kwahu South District of the Eastern Region.
Held under the theme “The Future of Business: The Role of the Financial Sector,” the forum is a flagship initiative that promotes entrepreneurship and provides a national platform to strengthen Ghana’s small and medium-sized enterprises.
The event forms part of broader efforts to expand the capacity of the private sector, with a particular focus on agro-processing and manufacturing as key pillars of the economy.
As a non-partisan national development platform, the Kwahu Business Forum brings together leading industry players to network, share experiences, and explore how financial products and services can be leveraged to drive business growth.
In his keynote address, President Mahama outlined several policy interventions aimed at supporting enterprise development. These include expanding access to affordable financing through institutions like the Development Bank Ghana and the Women’s Development Bank, as well as introducing tax incentives and a national venture capital fund to support women-led businesses.
He also emphasized the need to build a robust 24-hour economy supported by digital infrastructure, reliable electricity, and efficient logistics systems to boost productivity and create jobs.
President Mahama noted that the forum remains non-partisan and serves as a key driver for youth entrepreneurship, unlocking innovation and creativity among young people.
He further highlighted the strategic importance of the Eastern Region’s Afram Plains, describing it as a priority zone for agricultural investment and agribusiness. He reaffirmed his government’s commitment to unlocking the area’s potential to strengthen the local economy and contribute to national food security.
