WE’RE UNDERSTAFFED – HEALTH DIRECTOR CRIES OUT

On Monday, 10th March 2025, the Yilo Krobo Municipal Director of Health Services, Mrs Irina Ofei, appealed to the government to, as a matter of urgency, provide the municipality with adequate human resources. She said the lack of sufficient health workers in the municipality is seriously hampering effective healthcare delivery.

Mrs Ofei made the appeal when she led a delegation from the Municipal Health Directorate to call on the Regional Minister in Koforidua. She enumerated other challenges facing the directorate, including acute water shortages, especially at the Yilo Krobo Municipal Hospital, a lack of residential accommodation for staff, and inadequate means of transport. She also appealed to the government to consider completing all abandoned health projects in the municipality.

The Health Director further proposed the establishment of a hospital at Klo-Agogo to bring healthcare services closer to community members and their environs. She urged traditional authorities and opinion leaders to release land for the facility when the need arises.
On her part, the Regional Minister, Mrs Rita Akosua Adjei Awatey, said healthcare delivery is crucial for ensuring that individuals receive timely, effective, and safe medical care. According to her, access to quality healthcare can prevent illnesses, reduce mortality rates, and improve overall health outcomes.

Mrs Awatey said it is against this background that the NDC government is committed to ensuring that quality healthcare is easily accessible to all. She assured the Yilo Krobo Municipal Health Directorate of her support in addressing its challenges.
