The Ghana Audit Service commissioned a new office complex which was commenced in 2022 with funding from the German Development Bank, Kreditanstalt für Wiederaufbau (KFW).
The two-storey building Eastern Regional Office, commissioned on June 7, 2024, is one of three regional offices (Central and Volta Region) and a total of 19 offices across the country. All offices are funded by the German government. The ultra-modern building includes; reception area, meeting rooms, general offices, workshops/training rooms, storage room, laundry room, server room, kitchen, security room and other auxiliary rooms.
Speaking at the event on behalf of the President of the Republic of Ghana, H.E. Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo, was the Hon. Eastern Regional Minister Seth Kwame Acheampong said the infrastructural development project would strengthen the regional and district structures of the Inspectorate Service and enhance the delivery of the service’s mandate.
The Hon. Eastern Regional minister said since 2017, the president has ensured that the auditor has sufficient resources to consistently and effectively fulfill the mandate of the auditor.
He said this enabled the service to allocate funds from the Government of Ghana budget to complete projects that the service started as early as 2012 but were abandoned at various stages across the country.
The Hon. Eastern Regional Minister mentioned that, the other district offices are currently completed and the officials of the service have diligently fulfilled their purpose and promoted the public financial management of the country.
German Ambassador to Ghana, Daniel Krull, said that the infrastructure development is part of the liberal cooperation between Ghana and Germany to promote transparency and accountability in the accounting of public institutions in Ghana at all levels to promote good performance management. He assured that continued cooperation between the government of Ghana and Germany will lead to an increase in such support.
The Auditor General of Ghana, Johnson Akuamoah Asiedu, praised the German government and the President of Ghana for this project, which would help curb the threat of corruption.
The ribbon cutting ceremony was performed by Hon. Eastern Regional Minister, Mr. Krull and Daasebre Nana Kwaku Boateng III, Chief of New Juaben Traditional Area.
Among the dignitaries at the occasion were, all Heads of Department/Units, representatives from all Institutions and Agencies and the Traditional Authority.
