THE EASTERN REGIONAL CO-ORDINATING COUNCIL OBSERVED THE 78TH REMEMBRANCE DAY IN KOFORIDUA

The 78th Remembrance Day Parade, organized by the Eastern Regional Coordinating Council, took place at Jubilee Park in Koforidua. This annual event serves as a solemn tribute to the soldiers who made the ultimate sacrifice during World War I.

The parade featured a remarkable display by servicemen and women from various branches, including the Military, Police, Immigration, Fire and Prisons Service of Ghana, Ghana Revenue Authority, Custom Division, and members of the Veterans Association of Ghana. This collective tribute aimed at honoring the fallen heroes of the First World War in 1918.

A poignant moment occurred during the event as attendees observed two minutes of silence at the eleventh hour and eleventh minute (11:11 a.m) to reflect and pay respects to the departed souls.



The ceremony included a wreath-laying segment, with key participants such as the Eastern Regional Minister, Hon. Seth Kwame Acheampong, Lieutenant Colonel Frank Adams of the First Infantry Battalion (1BN) at Michel Camp-Tema, the Eastern Regional Chairman of the Veterans Association of Ghana (VAG), Ex-Officio George Mensah, and the Representative of the Omanhene of the New Juaben Traditional Area, Nana Adjei Sarpong, Chief of Ada, Koforidua, all taking part.

World War I concluded on the eleventh hour of the eleventh day of the eleventh month. As a result, this day is annually observed by all Commonwealth member states worldwide, serving as a moment of remembrance and reflection.
