ICT CENTRES COMMISSIONED IN THE EASTERN REGION.

The Ministry of Communications and Digitization, in partnership with its implementing agency, the Ghana Investment Fund for Electronic Communications (GIFEC), inaugurated three state-of-the-art Information and Communication Technologies (ICT) Centres in the Eastern Region. The towns benefiting from this initiative are Asuom in the Kwaebibirim Municipality, Awisa in the Birim South District, and Suhum in the Suhum Municipality.

During the inauguration, Hon. Ursula Owusu-Ekuful, the Sector Minister, emphasized the transformative impact of these facilities on the overall educational landscape in the communities. She highlighted that the ICT Centres are poised to elevate teaching and learning experiences for both students and the entire population.

In addition to educational benefits, Hon. Ursula Owusu-Ekuful underscored that the ICT Centres are hubs for accessing a wide range of information for various purposes. This, she explained, aligns with a broader national initiative aimed at advancing ICT education throughout the country.

Hon. Seth Kwame Acheampong, the Eastern Regional Minister, commended the Ministry of Communications and Digitization for spearheading these impactful projects. He urged the beneficiary communities to take ownership of the ICT Centres and leverage them effectively.

Furthermore, Hon. Seth Kwame Acheampong encouraged citizens, especially the youth, to actively engage in ICT learning, emphasizing its role in enhancing technological knowledge for the overall progress of the Eastern Region. This collaborative effort between the government and the local communities reflects a commitment to advancing education and digital literacy in Ghana.
