The Acting President of Akuapem Traditional Council, the Aburihene and Adontenhene of Okuapeman, Otobour Gyan Kwasi II has commended the Eastern Regional Minister, Hon. Seth Kwame Acheampong for his exemplary leadership in governance and commitment to the overall Development of the region.
He said the Minister’s commitment and approach to the confirmation of the President’s nominees for the position of Municipal/District Chief Executive for the various Assemblies, attitudes towards invitations and programmes, quick response to the call from Traditional Authorities and others exhibited within the short period of his stewardship show that he was ripped for the position he occupied.
Otobour Gyan Kwasi II made this statement when the President of the Republic of Ghana, Nana Akufo-Addo paid a courtesy call on him at his palace in Aburi as part of the President’s three-day official visit to the Eastern Region to interact with Chiefs and Opinion leaders, inspect ongoing developmental projects and commission completed ones.
Having called on Aburihene, the President made a whistle stop at Aburi Government hospital to inspect the ongoing renovation and expansion works which was about 95% complete according to the consultant of the Project.
At Akropong in the Akuapem North Municipality, the President commissioned a shoe factory which was under the One-District-One-Factory (1D1F) flagship programme of the government.
The factory which is located at the heart of the Municipal capital, Akropong , with state-of-the-art technology has the capacity to produce Thirty-two Thousand (32000) of all kinds of shoes in a month. At Okuapeman Palace, the president lamented the protracted Chieftaincy dispute which was affecting the developmental needs of the people in the area and the country as a whole.
He said, as a son of Okuapeman he was personally worried and described current happenings as a ‘dent’ on the image of the people of Okuapeman, who are noted for their high values for peace and respect.
