CONFIRMATION OF MDCEs IN EASTERN REGION, SO FAR ENCOURAGING- EASTERN REGIONAL MINISTER.

 
The Honourable Eastern Regional Minister, Mr. Seth Kwame Acheampong has described the response and commitment by the Assembly Members in confirming the President’s nominees for the position of Chief Executive Officers in the Assemblies as very encouraging and an indication that the Assembly Members were poised for Development.
Hon. Acheampong made this statement when he granted interview to the media after he had visited eight (? assemblies to supervise the confirmation process of the President’s nominees in the respective districts.
After two days exercise, 8 Districts who have held their elections, five (5) of them namely, Okere District Assembly, Birem South District Assembly, Akyemansa District Assembly, Kwahu East District Assembly and Kwahu South Municipal Assembly have recorded a 100% valid votes cast in favour of the President’s nominee. New Juabeng South Municipal Assembly and Atiwa West Districts recorded over 90% valid votes cast in favour of the nominees.
Hon. Acheampong however was very hopeful that Achiase District which could not confirm the President’s nominee, having falling short of the required 66.67% mark would do the needful in the second round of the elections, adding that he would continue to dialogue with the Assembly Members to ensure victory.
According to the Eastern Regional Minister, confirming the nominees of the President is in the best interest of the people as it will aid in propelling the wheels of government faster and in the direction of development.
He therefore expressed gratitude to the Assembly Members in the Districts he had visited and encouraged the remaining Twenty- five (25) districts to also confirmed the President’s nominees, having in mind that it was in the best interest of the people they represented specifically and the country at large.
The elections at the various districts were supervised by the Electoral Commission and the swearing-in ceremony was conducted by Regional Minister.
Hon. Minister was accompanied by the Chief Director of Eastern Regional Coordinating Council, Mr. Samuel Donkor, New Patriotic Party Regional Executives, Some technical staff of ERCC and the Media.
