Deputy Eastern Regional Minister, Hon. Joseph Tetteh, together with the DCE for Birim North District, Hon. Raymond Nana Dartey, and the Member of Parliament for Abirem Constituency, Hon. Frimpong Osei, joined the Chief and people of Abokyikrom to commission a magnificent 3-unit classroom block with an office, a storeroom and a library.
In a speech, the Deputy Minister, entreated all teachers gathered to continue to inspire and train the students to be resourceful, creative and self-dependent.
He further said, “the students should be given the necessary training to develop the 3Hs: the HEAD, HEART and the HAND. The situation whereby students become ‘Intellectually matured but Morally corrupt’ is unacceptable.
The Deputy Minister also urged the managers of the school and the whole community to take proper care of the facility. “I would like to urge the school authorities and the whole community to take good care of this facility for our school children to derive maximum benefit from it. “More often than not, maintenance culture in this country is not something to write home about. But I think there will be a paradigm shift in the way we do our things”, he added.
The Member of Parliament for the area, Hon. Osei Frimpong urged the youth to take advantage of the numerous programmes that have been initiated by the government to better their lives. He reaffirmed government commitment to fulfill all the promises made during the 2016 general election not because it is a campaign promise but importantly, it is good and will change the living conditions of the citizens.
District Chief Executive, Hon. Raymond Damptey promised to take good care of the facility together with the Ghana Education directorate. He advised the school children to take their studies seriously in order to gain admission into Senior High Schools which is now free.
The complex facility was sponsored by a philanthropist, Mr. George Osei, an 86 year old native of the community who is currently based in Holland.
