Public sector workers have been urged to uphold high ethical standards in their workplaces by demonstrating integrity, impartiality, accountability, and transparency in their professional conduct. They have also been advised to make merit-based decisions, avoid conflicts of interest, and delegate tasks effectively to enhance productivity rather than attempting to handle all responsibilities alone.

\nThe Eastern Regional Minister, Hon. Rita Akosua Adjei Awatey, made this call during a meeting with Regional Heads of Department in Koforidua on 5th February 2025. Addressing the gathering, she emphasized that ethical leadership and professionalism were fundamental to improving public service delivery. She reminded the officials of their responsibility to prioritize the public interest above personal considerations and urged them to lead by example in promoting good governance.<\/p>\n

Hon. Awatey further underscored the importance of proactive leadership, urging public officials to move beyond passive, desk-bound roles and actively engage with the communities they serve. She stressed that field officers must stay abreast of developments within their operational areas, as this would enable them to make informed decisions and respond effectively to emerging challenges.

\nThe Minister also highlighted the government\u2019s commitment to tackling youth unemployment through skills development. She revealed that plans were underway to establish more Technical and Vocational Education and Training (TVET) centers across the region to equip the unemployed, particularly young people, with employable skills. She noted that empowering the youth through vocational training would not only enhance their livelihoods but also help curb crime rates associated with joblessness.
