{"id":1644,"date":"2022-09-23T11:03:11","date_gmt":"2022-09-23T11:03:11","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.easternregion.gov.gh\/?p=1644"},"modified":"2022-12-22T11:12:49","modified_gmt":"2022-12-22T11:12:49","slug":"the-paramount-queen-mother-of-akwamu-traditional-area-honoured","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"http:\/\/www.easternregion.gov.gh\/index.php\/the-paramount-queen-mother-of-akwamu-traditional-area-honoured\/","title":{"rendered":"THE PARAMOUNT QUEEN MOTHER OF AKWAMU TRADITIONAL AREA HONOURED."},"content":{"rendered":"<p>The Paramount Queen mother of Akwamu Traditional Area, Nana Afrakoma II has been honoured by the National Peace Council in the Eastern Region for her significant contributions to the resolution of the Akwamu chieftaincy dispute which lasted for over thirty years.<br \/>\n<img loading=\"lazy\" src=\"http:\/\/www.easternregion.gov.gh\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/12\/307462816_396795972643652_537666157224537283_n-1024x577.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"720\" height=\"406\" class=\"aligncenter size-large wp-image-1653\" srcset=\"http:\/\/www.easternregion.gov.gh\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/12\/307462816_396795972643652_537666157224537283_n-1024x577.jpg 1024w, http:\/\/www.easternregion.gov.gh\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/12\/307462816_396795972643652_537666157224537283_n-300x169.jpg 300w, http:\/\/www.easternregion.gov.gh\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/12\/307462816_396795972643652_537666157224537283_n-768x432.jpg 768w, http:\/\/www.easternregion.gov.gh\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/12\/307462816_396795972643652_537666157224537283_n-1536x865.jpg 1536w, http:\/\/www.easternregion.gov.gh\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/12\/307462816_396795972643652_537666157224537283_n.jpg 2048w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 720px) 100vw, 720px\" \/><br \/>\nThe National Peace Council used the celebration of this year\u2019s International Peace Day to highlight and recognize her major role in resolving conflict not only in Akwamu but in order traditional areas in the country.<br \/>\nThe event which was held at the forecourt of the Akwamu Palace; the Bogyewe Palace on 21st September 2022 honoured other prominent individuals who have contributed towards peace and stability in the Region.<br \/>\nDelivering the Keynote address on the theme \u201cEnd Racism, Build Peace,\u201d the Eastern Regional Minister, Mr. Seth Kwame Acheampong defined peace as not just the absence of war but a quiet and calm state of mind or a period of freedom from public disturbances.<br \/>\nHe emphasised the importance of ending hostilities and building peace among people of diverse religions, political ideologies, tribes, or cultures and referred to the Russian \u2013 Ukraine war and its effects on the global economy; the risen cost of prices of food, water, and transportation which one would have thought that, once the war was in Europe, it had nothing to do in Africa.<br \/>\nHe praised Nana Afrakoma II for her contribution towards peace and stability; for her interest in ensuring that the youth in the traditional area climb higher on the educational ladder; and providing mentorship for many queen mothers across the country.<br \/>\n<img loading=\"lazy\" src=\"http:\/\/www.easternregion.gov.gh\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/12\/307856451_396796479310268_3640510060462640905_n-1024x577.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"720\" height=\"406\" class=\"aligncenter size-large wp-image-1654\" srcset=\"http:\/\/www.easternregion.gov.gh\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/12\/307856451_396796479310268_3640510060462640905_n-1024x577.jpg 1024w, http:\/\/www.easternregion.gov.gh\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/12\/307856451_396796479310268_3640510060462640905_n-300x169.jpg 300w, http:\/\/www.easternregion.gov.gh\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/12\/307856451_396796479310268_3640510060462640905_n-768x432.jpg 768w, http:\/\/www.easternregion.gov.gh\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/12\/307856451_396796479310268_3640510060462640905_n-1536x865.jpg 1536w, http:\/\/www.easternregion.gov.gh\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/12\/307856451_396796479310268_3640510060462640905_n.jpg 2048w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 720px) 100vw, 720px\" \/><br \/>\nHon. Acheampong consequently used the occasion to urge everyone present to pursue peace, stressing that, sustainable development in communities and the nation could only be achieved in a peaceful atmosphere.<br \/>\nHe called on everyone to use the occasion to end hostilities that have been lingering and be dedicated to peace-building education.<br \/>\nVery Rev. Fr. Andrew K. Dunyo, Eastern Regional Peace Council Chairman in his address described the Queen-mother as a woman full of wisdom and a strong pillar to Akwamuman and Ghana, given her enormous contribution to her area since her enstoolment fifty-eight (58) years ego.<br \/>\nHe said amidst all the challenges confronting Akwamuman, Nanahemaa has stood on her feet as a mother and maintained peace, and today, Akwamu can boast of a Paramount Chief; Odeneho Kwafo Akoto III.<br \/>\nOther speakers who eulogised her were Nana Adutwumwaa Dokua, the paramount Queen-mother of Akyem Abuakwa Traditional Area, Mrs. Vivian Yebuah- the Mayor of VRA-Akosombo, Mr. Victor Ansah- CEO of FBN Bank.<br \/>\nThe International Peace Day is celebrated to provide a global platform for all humanity to commit to peace and contribute to building a culture of peace.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>The Paramount Queen mother of Akwamu Traditional Area, Nana Afrakoma II has been honoured by the National Peace Council in the Eastern Region for her significant contributions to the resolution of the Akwamu chieftaincy dispute which lasted for over thirty years.
