The Honourable Eastern Regional Minister, Mr. Seth Kwame Acheampong has appealed to the Eastern Regional House of Chiefs to employ all the available mechanisms to help resolve the numerous chieftaincy disputes in the Region.<\/div>\n<\/div>\n
\n
Honourable Acheampong described the current situation where out of 11 Paramount Seats in the Region, only 5 seats were being occupied largely because of disputes as DISTURBING and a bane to development.<\/div>\n<\/div>\n
\n
Hon. Acheampong made this statement when he addressed the Eastern Regional House of Chiefs at their annual end of year general meeting held in Koforidua, the Eastern Regional Capital.<\/div>\n<\/div>\n
\n
He used the occasion to thank the President of the Eastern Regional House of Chiefs, Nene Sackite II, Konor of Manya Krobo Traditional Area and all revered Chiefs and members of the house for their enormous support and good counsel since he took office as the Regional Minister.<\/div>\n<\/div>\n
\n
He indicated that Chiefs were traditional allies of Government in development giving an important role they play in local traditional governance system and acts as a medium for the expression of social, political, religious and to some extent, economic authority in their traditional areas.<\/div>\n<\/div>\n
\n
As Chairman of the Regional Security Council and the President\u2019s representative in the Region, Hon. Acheampong gave the assurance that together with the various security heads, peace and security of the Region would be maintained.<\/div>\n<\/div>\n

He called on the Chiefs continue to rally behind the President of the Republic of Ghana Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo in order to deliver his mandate to the people of Ghana.<\/div>\n<\/div>\n

He appealed also to Nananom to support the 33 Municipal\/District Chief Executives to help implement the agenda of the Government.<\/div>\n<\/div>\n

In his welcome address, the President of Eastern Regional House of Chiefs and the Kornor of Manya Krobo Traditional Area, His Royal Majesty Nene Sakite II urged the members of the house to take the a serious look at the Chieftaincy Act to gain deeper understanding of the Chieftaincy Institution in order to avail themselves of the penalties spelt out for those who want to take the laws into their hands and bring the institution into disrepute.<\/div>\n<\/div>\n

Nene Sakite II expressed concern about polarisation, incidents of violence and the used of intemperate language which have gradually eaten into the nation\u2019s democratic values, norms and behaviour. He called on Nananom to strategize and bring back the values and norms that previously held the Ghanaian society together.<\/div>\n<\/div>\n

He also appealed to the media to be very careful about their reportage, not be seen as fanning conflicts but whatever they publish must be credible and in the interest of the nation.<\/div>\n<\/div>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
