CHIEF OF KWAHU ASAKRAKA GETS E/R COUNCIL OF STATE MEMBER SLOT

A 63 year old Chief of Kwahu Asakraka, Nana Somuah Mireku-Nyampong has been elected the Council of State Member for the Eastern Region. Nana Mireku – Nyampong who is also the Apeagyahene of Kwahu Traditional Council and Accountant by profession polled 26 votes to beat his close contender, Mr. Afare Apeadu Donkor, 72, who had 23 votes out of the 52 valid votes cast. A 61 year old Emmanuel Amofa had two votes and while a 63 year old legal consultant, Robert Godfried Adu – Mante had one vote. The remaining seven contestants had nothing from the 52 delegates drawn from all the 26 municipal and district assemblies in the region. The election was peacefully conducted and supervised by the Electoral Commission.
